I was just thinking about how sometimes we have to make hard decisions and commit to doing things that do not provide any immediate joy but by the act of sticking to our guns we later achieve a greater reward.
The decisions can range from a number of things including disciplining your child now, so they will grow up to understand consequence and become a responsible adult later; abstaining from sex now to wait for a more fulfilling relationship later; staying away from the ice cream and cookies now to achieve optimum health later; going to school at night to earn a college degree later.
Fighting against our nature that craves immediate gratification (which is never lasting) is hard, so when you find yourself struggling and ready to break, think about the greater reward.
Keep up the fight, stick to your guns, it is worth it in the long run.
Shine your light!
